Malah Palinka

Malah Palinka

Malah Palinka are an absolutely bonkers collective of virtuosic musicians, bringing together a snappy brass section, infectious funk grooves, and dreamlike lyrics. Drawing inspiration from funk, jazz, soul, hip-hop, and pop, they are an arrangement-heavy band that blend tight songwriting with captivating grooves.

Formed in Sheffield, their energetic live shows are designed to get people moving and grooving along to their brassy hooks and catchy choruses. Known for throwing in reharmonised takes on pop anthem classics (Childish Gambino, Britney Spears, Beyoncé), their performances keep people guessing and on their toes.

Their approach to songwriting cites references including Vulfpeck, Hiatus Kaiyote, Tom Misch, and Snarky Puppy, yet they are gradually finding their own off-the-wall sound. The band’s 2023 single, Baby Who Hurt You?, was a funky pop anthem which made its way onto BBC Radio 6 Music’s Introducing Mixtape. Since releasing two EPs, the band are currently recording their self-funded debut album, and have seen recent success on YouTube by releasing a series of beautiful live videos, including 3 covers.
